Casino Games Rules And Strategy Lessons

Online Roulette Strategy

Online roulette games are not like poker, in that there is very little one can do in the way of skill to shift the tide, so to speak, in a game. And unlike video poker, in online roulette games you can't take another shot by discarding your original result, in favor of one that might turn out better. Unlike blackjack, in online roulette games you are not in a position to execute strategy moves at every turn, such as Basic Strategy, playing variations, or money management principles for online roulette, that will do anything to change the outcome. Also, you will not find subtle rules differences that might add something to your edge or reduce the house disadvantage. In roulette, unlike a game of Texas Hold'em, you will not be reacting to anything your "opponents" do.

There are very few decisions to make in online roulette games that will impact the game at all; in fact, those are relatively minimal. Whatever you do in online roulette, there is nothing you're going to be able to do to change the long-term odds, even in a minute way, because they are built-in and work virtually the same on every bet. Unlike online roulette, that's why, in the brick and mortar casino setting, you will notice that the casino is only too happy to allow the player to write down all the results as the wheel keeps spinning; in fact, they'll even supply the pad and pencil, the equivalent of which in online roulette games would be an electronic tote board.

In online roulette, there are a number of different kinds of bets you can make at the virtual table. These are divided into two categories in online roulette games - "Inside" bets and "Outside" bets. Inside bets include something called the "straight bet," which is the most basic wager in online roulette games. It involves betting on any individual number in online roulette, anything from 1 to 36 as it is laid out in online roulette games, and including the zero (0) and double zero (00). A "street bet" involves betting on three numbers in a row across the roulette table. You are covering three numbers at once and the payoff is 11-to-1. The "double street bet" covers an area of six numbers rather than three (it is also known as a six-number bet), and pays 5-to-1. The "split bet" is a wager that takes place between two numbers, and pays 17-to-1. The "corner bet" is placed at the point where four numbers intersect, and if any of those numbers come in, you win. It pays 8.5-to-1. The "five number bet" covers only one combination - the zero, double zero, plus 1, 2 and 3. It pays 6-to-1 if any of those numbers come in.

The "outside bets" in online roulette involve those that are placed outside the normal layout. There is the "Red or Black" bet, the "Odd or Even" and "Low or High" bets, all of which are self-explanatory and pay off at even money in online roulette games. The "column bet" lets you wager in any of the three columns available on the online roulette layout. In online roulette games, it's a 2-to-1 payoff. The "dozens bet" covers a dozen numbers at a time, in numerical order (e.g., 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12) and also pays 2-to-1. It's certainly a good idea to know how to lay out these bets in order to make the most out of any strategy for playing live online roulette. If you are still not sure, read the roulette tips page.
