Derby Day lets you in on all the fun of betting on horse racing without actually having to know anything about horses - what could be easier? You can read about the 'racehorses' previous form and place bets accordingly. You can then watch a computer graphics simulated horse race, where the graphics are top class, and hopefully make a few quid in the process - all without leaving the comfort of your own home.
How to Play
There are several different things you can get on. The first, and most obvious, is selecting which horse will win the race. Read their recent form; horses with the best record will have lower win amounts (usually around x4 your stake) and horses with the lowest record will have the highest (up to 7x, though it does vary from race to race).
You also can select to play 'Xacta', which is where you select the horses that will finish second and third. If you get this right - and depending on the form of the horses selected - you can win up to $3000 for a $100 bet. It is possible to play, in the same race, different selected horses for both the overall win and for Xacta, which helps hedge your bets.
Next up you can bet on the horses that finish first, second or third. You can also try and pre-select five out of the six finishing places, which if you get right can have fantastic rewards up to $20,000.
The best thing about this game is that you can run multiple result bets on the same race, saving time, and you don't even have to choose the same winner for each category. You can bet anything from $1 to $100. When you've finished betting, confirm it and then select 'Race!'. You'll be shown the actual race 'as it happens', so get cheering!
Review
This really is a fantastically fun game. The option to choose multiple results is very enticing and means you don't have to keep running different games, you can select as many variants as you want and see it all unfold in the same race. The graphics are excellent and the sound helps create that race effect. By clicking around on different elements, I came up with a possible win of $77, 100 from a stake of $800, so returns are there to be made if you've got the chutzpah to do it.
