Dice Twister is a game that allows you to gamble on the outcome of the roll of three dice. There are a range of options in terms of what you can place a bet on. This game is proof positive that some people will gamble on absolutely anything, as the outcome of a dice roll generated by a computer is the very definition of 'random'. But if informed prediction and balance of probability aren't for you, then this game is certainly a promising option.

How to Play

The game screen features three large red dice with white spots upon them. In order to roll these you select your bet and then press 'Spin' at the bottom of the screen. On the left of the screen is a range of numbers, from 4 to 17, representing possible outcomes of the dice roll. For reasons not clarified, you cannot choose 3 or 18. These potential outcomes have set odds. 4 or 17 carry odds of 70/1, meaning that if you bet the maximum $100 stake on a roll of 17, and this outcome is achieved, you can win a maximum of $7,000.

Underneath the dice are six fields, representing the numbers 1 to 6. These allow you to gamble on the outcome of any of the three dice. If you bet that a three will be rolled, for example, the payout is governed by how many threes turn up. If one is rolled, you win 2x your stake, if two are rolled, you win 3x your stake. The big payout here is if all three dice end up rolling a three, which pays out 15x your stake. This seems like astonishingly short odds to me, as in all the rolls I have generated so far (upwards of thirty) I have yet to see a single 'full house'.

On the right-hand side of the screen are the more esoteric options. You can bet on the range within which the dice roll will fall. Between 3 and 8 pays out 3.75x your stake, from 9-12 pays out twice your stake, and anything from 13 upwards pays out 3.75x. Beneath this is the Evens/Odds/Mix option, where you can predict whether your roll will bring up three even numbers, three odd numbers or a mix of the two. The payout for a mix (certainly the most likely outcome) is 1.25x your stake. All Evens or All Odds give a juicier payout of 7.75x.

Review

This is a game of chance. There is a certain amount of probability to it, but playing the percentages is not exactly handsomely rewarded. If you manage to consistently predict the total of the three dice, then you are either a witch or some form of deity. As a way of passing the time, it's diverting enough, but the limited skill factor would put me off repeated playing.
